What you bring to the table…

  • A degree in accounting or other appropriate academic major and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience along with a Canadian CPA designation

  • Audit or business experience in financial statement close or the application of accounting standards

  • Demonstrate mastery of key concepts and principles related to process improvements, project management and change management; show an ability to apply these consistently in engagement settings

  • Impeccable client relationship skills

  • A dedication to teamwork and leadership Experience with conducting all aspects of Not-for-Profit Audits and Assurance Engagements

  • Experience with conducting all aspects of Not-for-Profit Audits and Assurance Engagements

  • Experience with Notice to Readers Compilations

  • Demonstrate a high commitment to quality client service, quality of work, compliance with policies and procedures, professional ethics and integrity

  • Proficiency in CaseWare or equivalent

  • Experience with Jazzit and Intuit Profile would be an asset

  • Experience in preparation of personal and corporate income tax returns would be an asset

  • Actively engaged in professional development through continuous learning, training and communication

  • Up-to-date on content and practical applications of accounting and assurance standards, and know how to access and research professional and technical materials

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is a strong leader and will have the opportunity to be involved with all facets of our practice by working closely with our Assurance, Accounting and Tax teams on a variety of Not-for-Profit and Private Enterprise clients.

  • Plan, manage and participate in various engagements (researching application of accounting standards to various transactions, assessing financial and governance processes, assisting with accounting framework transitions, comparisons of different company practices, developing and providing tailored training, etc.).

  • Prepare deliverables tailored to client needs.

  • Supervise engagement teams including delegation and review of work performed.

  • Prepare audits and other assurance engagements ensuring quality completion of all working papers and checklists, and adjusting journal entries in accordance with firm and regulatory standards (ASNPO and ASPE), for small to mid-size Not-for-Profits and Private Enterprise clients

  • Prepare Notice to Reader compilations, including completion of all working papers, adjusting journal entries, and financial statements

  • Coordinate and communicate directly with clients, staff and partners to ensure efficient and timely completion of client files, to meet deadlines and client service expectations

  • Proactively identify engagement issues, investigate discrepancies and recommend solutions

  • Keep abreast of evolving accounting and assurance standards and their implications for our clients

  • Prepare and review corporate, personal and trust income tax returns

  • Complete special projects as needed and other duties assigned

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Annual salary: $85,000 to $100,000
